It's hard to say enough about the great qualities we find in some of our teachers and our most recent Featured Teacher is a prime example. Jesse Davis embodies the perfect balance of musical talent, organization and effective communication that is essential for an effective music teacher.
Jesse's love for music began at an early age when his dad would play Pink Floyd records at home, though he never thought he would be able to play an instrument himself until he picked up his first guitar at age 19. Watching his friends play motivated him to get going and learn some basic rock songs.
Feeling like he had to catch up, Jesse practiced a lot. Knowing that he wanted to turn his passion into a career, Jesse immersed himself in the Applied Music Program at Ventura College. Under the guidance of Carlos Gonzales, Master Guitarist, he specialized in classical guitar performance.
From the beginning, Jesse was inspired by the learning process and thought he could offer a lot as a teacher. While still attending VC, Jesse began tutoring music part-time as well as performing regularly throughout Ventura County.
Over the last ten years Jesse has had the privilege of working with many amazing musicians in various ensembles, further developing his craft. He has taught a variety of instruments to students from age 6 to 86. He is an active member of the Ventura County Classical Guitar Society, he has recorded and released an album with "Duo Subito."
Jesse currently divides his time between performing for weddings and other special events and providing in-home lessons on acoustic or electric guitar, teaching students classical to rock and anything in between.
