Treat your ears to a taste of the golden years of Broadway sung from the hearts of those who lived them. Coming up on Saturday, June 16th, 2018 the "Sunrise Singers" of our Senior Reflections program for Sunrise Senior Living communities in Westlake Village and Wood Ranch will be performing a genuine tribute to the golden age of Broadway.
At the end of World War II, musical theater exploded from broadway to theaters around the world with revolutionary new productions by the visionaries like Rogers and Hammerstein, Irving Berlin and Leonard Bernstein. By creating shows that used the powerful expression of dance and music to develop their stories they changed the face of musical theater for good. Before this innovation songs were mostly used to cover scene changes and dancers served up visual flair between acts.
This will be your chance to hear these songs performed by the folks who were most affected by them. The Sunrise Singers from two communities are joining forces to serve up their take on the songs that put the spotlight on Broadway as one of the world's centers of music and theater. Joining the choirs will be guest performances from some very exciting surprise musicians and dancers yet to be announced.
The show will be Saturday, June 16th at 1:30 p.m. in the Samuelson Chapel at Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, CA. Admission is free and we expect seats to go quickly. So, please R.S.V.P. to HHC ator email firstname.lastname@example.org today to reserve your seats.
