From the lush tropical islands of the South Pacific to the dusty plains of Oklahoma our seniors ran the gamut covered by the golden age of Broadway with their vocal tribute to the era of the Broadway Musical. With a combination of music and history our senior choir treated the audience to a smorgasbord of songs from the musicals that chronicled American history and inspired one of our greatest generations who built our country into one of the greatest forces for good on the planet.
Selections for the program included pieces from Annie Get Your Gun, Wizard of Oz, Oklahoma and many others with a rousing finale of All That Jazz from Chicago. Each the songs were introduced by our on-staff music history Expert Cary Ginell giving an insightful introduction to each selection providing important context and background.
As an added treat there was a dance number by Ava Kasrabod, a solo vocal performance by Jill Bari and piano accompaniment by Bob Sink. Photo and video credit to Farzad Kasrabod.
When we see the difference this program has made in the quality of these senior's lives there is no doubt about the healing power of music. We'd like to thank the Sunrise Senior Living Communities for giving us this opportunity to share the blessing of music with their residents and we'd like to thank all of the seniors and their families for allowing us to be a part of their golden years.
